Register for the NATO Innovation Challenge

Who?: Anyone can register individually for the challenge. Each member of a team must register individually.

How?: Create an account at and check the box “Join the Innovation Challenge”

All participants can ask topic related questions by sending an email to




The abstract

The abstract explains the specific issue to be solved and the proposed solution

It mentions the team name and lists the team members (new members will not be allowed to join after pre-selection)

The abstract can include:

  • a text ofmax 4500 characters
  • max 5 graphics, pictures or slides (.ppt ...)
  • max 4 minutes video/audio file

Abstracts should be submitted by 15th April through the webform. To submit bigger files contact us at




Solutions/teams will be pre-selected based on their abstract.

Abstracts will be scored against:

  • Usefulness: potential impact of proposed solution on challenge topic
  • Innovativeness: is it a genuinely new idea or an already existing solution adapted for this Challenge?
  • Feasibility: is the solution easy and cheap to develop and implement?



Solution Proposal

Only one solution proposal can be submitted per selected abstract.

The proposal will explain the issue to be solved in detail and the proposed solution.

It will mention the team name and list the team members.

the solution proposal can include:

  • a document of max 12 pages of text
  • a 5 minutes maximum video/audio file

During the pitch the team, or part of it, presents the solution to the judges, in public.

The pitch will last 12 minutes max and will be followed by 5 minutes questions from the jury.

The team can pitch onsite, at the Ecole Militare in Paris (France), or online, or both.

Winners will be selected and announced on 29 May
